David M. Kleinman, MD, MBA, is Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology (part time) at the Flaum Eye Insititute in Rochester, New York, where he has actively practiced on the retina service for nearly 20 years. He has vast clinical research experience and has personally been the lead designer for over 20 clinical trials that have been conducted in the U.S. and abroad. He has served as clinical investigator for many years, been a member of multiple safety review committees and advisory boards and has also served as a member of a major university IRB. He has consulted for over 50 companies (large and small) developing ophthalmic products over the past 25 years and has played key management roles in clinical trial start up, implementation, execution, oversight, safety reviews, problem solving, data analysis, and regulatory interactions. He has also served as a strategic advisor to many biotech companies, venture capital groups and banks. He is an inventor on over 20 issued patents, made important contributions to the peer-reviewed medical literature, and has presented his work around the world.
